About CSIS

The Computer Society India Symposium (CSIS) is one of the remarkable events of the IEEE Computer Society in India and is held annually with the venue being rotated among the various sections of India. The main scope of this symposium is to bring professionals, speakers, experts, and other academicians so that the participants can interact with and in the process learn. The symposium is generally a 3-day event and includes talks, workshops, and events on a wide array of domains such as technical, industrial, management, social development and much more.

IEEE CSIS intends to promote the sense of innovation and technological zeal among the participating delegates. The symposium provides a platform for the confluence of researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs from various domains to share their knowledge and experiences.

About IEEE Kolkata Section

IEEE Kolkata Section’s mission is to spread IEEE Activities to all the remote corners by educational activities, human networking, and to develop technology and its applications for humanitarian challenges. It also aims at enlightening women and students about the innovations and encouraging them to choose engineering and science for building their careers. Currently the IEEE Kolkata Section extends across West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha, and brags of around 38 Students Branches, 13 Chapters and 3 Affinity Groups, namely, IEEE Young Professional Affinity Group, IEEE SIGHT, and IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE). The Section works closely and coherently with its branches and affinity groups; not only in technical, education and membership development activities but also in outreach activities which a major focus of this section. IEEE Kolkata Section received the accolade of 2016 Outstanding Section Membership Recruitment Performance. IEEE CoMSoc Kolkata Chapter received CAA- 2017 CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Chapter Award 2017 was received by IEEE AP/MTT Joint Chapter, Kolkata Section.

About IEM IEEE Students Branch

The IEEE Student Branch of Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata is one of the most active student branches of the IEEE Kolkata section. The Branch is enthusiastic in carrying out several events for the student members to provide them the facilities in the relevant fields necessary. It aims at organizing events to develop the student's social as well as professional skills and workshops from famous companies that offer adequate knowledge needed for stepping into the industrial world.

Student Activities

The Branch currently stand with approximately 100 members and will be encouraging more students from various streams to join IEEE in order to boost their career potential. Members of the Branch have recently hosted our maiden event, Technology Awareness Programme (T.A.P.) 2017, which has primarily funded jointly by IEEE Region10 Students Activities Committee and the IEEE Computer Society and was an overwhelming success.

Chapters

The IEEE Student Branch of IEM, Kolkata has four active chapters: Electron Devices Society (EDS), Computer Society (CS), Women In Engineering (WIE) and Industry Applications Society (IAS).

Collaboration

IEM has collaborated with IEEE to organize more than 7 international conferences in recent past at Canada, Thailand and USA. More than 50 papers has been published in these conferences by IEM students.

Bodhgaya details

Bodh Gaya, rightfully said the birthplace of Buddhism since under a tree here (now called Bodhi tree), Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, attained true knowledge is the most holy place for the Buddhists. Most of the Buddhist countries have their monasteries and temples in this town in Bihar making it a huge tourist attraction for people from all parts of the world so much so that it has been declared the world heritage site by the United Nations a few years back. Bodh Gaya is well-known for being a place where people come and experience real peace and serenity in spite of it being flooded with tourists throughout the year.

How to Reach Sambodhi

Train

There are direct trains that are available from the major cities i.e Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Kochi, Mumbai etc.. which the delegates can board to reach Bodh Gaya.
There are also connecting trains available which hault mostly at Varanasi, Kolkata, Patna etc.. to reach BodhGaya.
From Kolkata, it is an 8 hour journey via road to reach BodhGaya apart from which there are multiple trains available for every 2 hours.
There are bus and train services available from Patna which take about 3 hours to reach BodhGaya.
There are frequent buses available from Varanasi that take around 4 hours to reach BodhGaya.

Flight

There are a number of direct Air India, GoAir, Spice Jet flights to Bodh Gaya which the delegates can take as their mode of transportation to CSIS’18. The delegates can also take indirect flights to reach Bodh Gaya, i.e., Air India, GoAir flights to Howrah, Kolkata, Patna, etc.
From Patna, it takes 1 hour to reach by flight or train (2 hours), there is also bus service available which takes about 3 hours.
One can take a flight from Varanasi or bus (5 hours journey) or train (4hours) to reach Bodh Gaya.
From Howrah also, one can take flight or bus (8 hours) and there is frequent train service (6 hours) available the whole day.

About Dejawoo School

An engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology, and an MBA graduate from IIM Lucknow, Ms. Garima Vishal hails from the town of Selra in Bihar and she realised her true calling while she was working for ZS Associates in Gurgaon. She broke all stereotypes by putting an effort to help the children in her community to learn and started evening classes in Mathematics, Hindi and English. Eventually, she founded the Dejawoo School of Innovation, a school aimed not only to impart education but also to develop personalities and culture of innovation and freedom of thought following an education system different from the one currently followed in the country. The school has impacted lives of many people, including those of a large number of underprivileged children and their parents. Ms. Garima Vishal and her Team, through the foundation of the Dejawoo School of Innovation, has inspired many parents belonging to the rural areas to send their children to school and has instilled the will in those set of children to pursue a career in technology and science in future. The school is currently operating in Muzaffarpur, Bihar and has plans to expand all over India.

When and where will CSIS 2018 be held?
The IEEE Computer Society India Symposium 2018 will be held at Sambodhi Retreat Resort in Bodh Gaya, Bihar from 16-18 March, 2018.
Who should attend CSIS 2018?
Students across India who are passionate about the present-day technological advancements across the globe are welcome to attend the 3-day extravaganza. It can be a life changing experience for passionate volunteers from all streams of engineering to widen their networks and grow efficient in their work with IEEE and IEEE Computer Society.
What is the theme of CSIS 2018?
The theme of the Symposium for 2018 is “Converge to Emerge”.
Is it possible to have an extended accommodation (before or after the event)?
Yes, it is possible provided the request for accommodation is made in time. Also, the charges of the extended accommodation will not be accommodated in the registration fee.
Does the registration fees include food and accommodation facilities?
Yes, the registration fees is inclusive of food and accommodation charges.
What are the tracks at IEEE CSIS 2018?
The tracks at IEEE CSIS 2018 are categorized into six tracks: Technical, Robotics, Industrial, Management, Teacher In Service Program (TISP), Women In Computing (WIC).
When should I pay for the event?
Payment should be done during the second phase of registration. The first phase of registration is open to all and is free of cost.
When will the registration for the Symposium begin?
The early bird registration will be open from 19th December, 2017.
Are there any prerequisites related to IEEE for attending the event?
The event is also open to non-IEEE members. CSIS is a prestigious event attended by many eminent professionals and speakers all around the globe, so the Symposium is open to all the innovative minds out there.
Do I need to reserve rooms for accommodation?
Reservation of rooms for accommodation is not required as the registration fee includes accommodation and it will be taken care of.
Is it possible to send a substitute delegate in case of my unavailability to attend the event?
No, it is not possible. Once you register yourself as a confirmed participant during Phase 2, your registration cannot be cancelled. However a request for the same can be made if the case is genuine.
How can I cancel the registration I made?
Registrations once made, cannot be cancelled.
Are there any offers or discounts available on registration?
Offers and discounts are available for the student members of IEEE and the IEEE Computer Society.
